Located in the architectural complex of San Francisco with its Neoclassical style, this museum has ten rooms displaying a wide-ranging collection of Arequipa’s history. Themes include regional pre-Hispanic cultures; Colonial Baroque architecture; exhibits of photographs and objects from the Battle of May 2 and the War of the Pacific; and works by painters such as Luis Palao and the Núñez Ureta brothers, among others. It also features a gallery of the city’s illustrious sons and daughters.
