Museum of Andean Sanctuaries
Alojado en una casona solariega en el marco del Proyecto Santuarios de Altura del Sur Andino, este museo es célebre por albergar el cuerpo congelado de la Dama de Ampato (la Momia Juanita), en el conjunto de otras ofrendas Inca a las montañas sagradas, con sacrificios de niños en la festividad llamada Capaccocha. Una eficiente museografía permite apreciar la colección arqueológica que ilustra sobre el ritual de la Capaccocha, vale decir, el vestuario de los sacrificados, cerámica usada en las ceremonias, ofrendas en metales, keros de madera, entre otros objetos.

A visit to Juanita between May 1 and December 31. The mummy is removed from display for a preservation process between January 1 and April 30. In her place, another frozen body—that of “Sarita”—is put on display.
