Starting in the town of Tingo, a scenic route runs through the rural towns of Socabaya, Sabandía, Yumina, Characato, Yarabamba, Sogay, and Quequeña, which have preserved the traditions of the farmers known as lonccos.
One of the most important sites along this route is the Mansión del Fundador, or “Founder’s Mansion,” which once belonged to the city’s founder, Garcí Manuel de Carbajal, before being passed on to the Jesuits, and finally, the Goyeneche family.
Built from sillar and located on the edge of a xxxx, this is one of the most authentically traditional mansions in the entire region.
