This is a “living museum” that is still home to cloistered Carmelite nuns who have no contact with the outside world. You may hear them singing and praying, but you won’t be able to see them. Many of the objects and rooms that you will see have been in use for three centuries.
Be sure to see the largest “Nativity trunk” in the Americas; the unique mural with its profane themes in the Chapel Room; the collection of signed European engravings; and the impressive pieces in the metals room.
In the reception you can purchase soaps roses, apple cider vinegar, honey bees, and the most exquisite pastries, with ancient recipes, do the sisters of the monastery. The revenues are allocated to the maintenance of the museum and charitable activities.
